I love the moment when the lights turn on in New York City. Dusk is the transition from day to night. In the city that also means transitioning from work to home — which takes on many forms in NYC.
This is a view of three generations of residential apartment buildings on the Upper East Side. Most of the low density "brownstones" (foreground) near the East River have long been demolished and replaced with 30+ story apartment buildings like the one I took this shot from.
However, a few blocks of brownstones still remain intact creating spectacular views of midtown Manhattan (the Time Warner buildings at Columbus circle are dead center).
