Copenhagen - Crowded Afternoon at Nyhavn Harbour

Nyhavn Harbour – Copenhagen, Denmark.

It’s hard to miss the Nyhavn harbour when visitng Copenhagen. The brightly colored houses lining the canal that stretches from Kongens Nytorv (King’s Square) to the Royal Playhouse have been here since the 17th and 18th centuries. Nyhavn was built by King Christian V from 1670-73 as a gateway from the sea to the old inner city where ships handled cargo and fishermens’ catch. Not only does the harbour contain many historical ships, it is also where famed Danish author Hans Christian Andersen had lived for many years.
