Switzerland, Zurich, entrance of the main railway station facing the “Bahnhofstrasse”, the station was first built in 1847 & replaced in 1871 by the magnificent Neorenaissance building. Serving up to 2,915 trains per day, it is one of the busiest railway stations in the world, considering the municipality has only close to 400.000 inhabitants. Besides being the largest city in Switzerland it is also the capital of the canton of Zurich. Located at the Lake Zurich & the river Limmat Zurich is a highly cosmopolitan city with one of the uppermost living standards worldwide & as a leading global city among the world’s largest financial centres also very expensive. The Language is Swiss-German; however, French, Italian & English are widely spoken.
Permanently settled for around 2000 years, the history of Zurich goes back to its founding by the Romans in 15 BC, called it “Turicum”; early settlements have been found dating back more than 6400 years ago.
