The Grand Hotel, Llandudno, from the end of the pier

We just had a few days holiday in Llandudno, where I had not been for 65 years. The weather was damp, not unexpectedly, but otherwise I imagine the town looks much the same as it did then. We were a similar age to the rest of the tourists who had come out of the hotels and guest houses to try the promenade, and in the evening, the restaurants. So evening one, an Italian restaurant, evening two, Greek. Not that many customers, however, and we had had problems finding a room.
So – evening three – Wetherspoons, based in an old theatre. Absolutely humming, people of all ages, and if the tables were somewhat sticky you can forgive a lot when the food is better than the opposition and the prices less than half.
It’s not the first time we have had this experience.
